At Rebekah's House

August 16th, 2005

Like I said earlier, we were spending the night at Bek's house and didn't exactly go to bed early. =) So the next morning, of course we slept in. Then we came upstairs and threw some waffles in the toaster. Debbie ( Rebekah's mom) came in and cooked us some sausages. It was a relaxing time.

Then we came back down to the basement ( Bek's hangout area) to decide what we were going to do. We could hear Vanya and Jacob upstairs watching "Mr. Munchers". I had never seen or heard of that show before, but Kelci informed us that it is very cool. We were all ready to find something fun to do, but then I learned that Kelci had plans and needed to get going. So we said our goodbyes and she left.

I dissapeared for a little while to brush my teeth and etc. And when I came back downstairs, Bek and Sarah were playing dress-up! It was so cute to watch them. They had a big plastic bin out that was full of scarves, Debbie's old prom dresses, some gloves, etc.

So then we did a photo shoot! First we took pics of Bek playing dead on the staircase:

The day was such a blast, there isn't enough room to include it all in this post! Be watching for the next post!

Day Two of Lyndon Adventures:

Monday, August 15th: After lunch, I went to work with Sarah at Cody and Wyatts house. Sarah is Cody and Wyatts Nanny during the summer, and I dont know how she does it! The two boys ( ages 8 and 6) are very sweet but also very energetic. During my few hours there, there was much activity. I think Wyatt changed his clothes at least five times; once dressed up as Dare Devil, another time as a Power Ranger. While Sarah was making lunch, I made a short video of him as the Power Ranger; he was showing me all of his cool moves. He bounced around the house like a bolt of lighting. Cody is more peaceful in his activities, and after lunch he and I had a splendid time drawing pictures.

And lets not forget that blessed 1/2 hour watching Mr. Rogers. That brought back lots of memories for me. Of how I used to think Lady Aberlin was so beautiful and how I wanted to be exactly like her when I grew up. Now that I am grown up I dont think Lady Aberlin would suit me. I laugh at the thought of wearing bright purple dresses and 80s style earings, prancing around a fake environment and singing to a tiger puppet. Lets hope I never do that!

After Cody and Wyatts mother came home around four, Sarah and I left.

Then that evening we went to Beks house for a sleepover. It was fun. Rebekah, Kelci, Sarah and I stayed up late watching movies and fooling around. It felt so good to be with them again! We played with Beks Iguana Red, watched some funny short films online, and watched 2 films in the basement: Lemony Snickets: A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Finding Neverland.

Another Loss

Kimberly Ruth “Kimber” Wilson, Lawrence
1989 - 2005I was very distraught the other day to learn that Kimberly passed away. I did not know her well but saw her and visited on multiple occasions. I liked her a lot. All I can say is that my heart goes out to her family and I hope that you will Join me in prayer for all of those sensing the loss. Especially her family.

"Im so glad Im a Whosoever."

Hello Everybody!

I am journaling my latest adventures, starting with Sunday, August 14th.

Sunday: That morning I attended Victory Bible Church. The Lord really spoke to me through the sermon. The guest speaker spoke about unity in the church; and how important it is.

" We ought to have unity in the church body." He said. If you have been in the church a lot like me, I am sure you have heard the church compared with the human body before. I typically have heard the church body is like the human body in that, both are made up of many parts. just like each part of the human body is vital for the person to survive, so are members of the church body.

But all too often the church body does not function well because one or more of the members have poor performance or struggle with conflicts about petty things.

The guest speaker described all of this in a way I could really understand, and he carried a fresh perspective I had never heard of before. "Unity is good and pleasant." He said. " What if the kidney decided to stop working? What if one day the kidney says, 'Im mad at the mouth! It's getting all the attention! I'm not gonna work today!"

During the sermon he gave these references; which I think are helpful: Psalms 133:1, Ephesians 4, Ephesians 3:13.

He quoted john 3:16, and followed that by saying; "Im so glad Im a Whosoever."

After church I had lunch and then later Dad drove me to Lyndon; where I would be staying with my best friend Sarah. Then the rest of that day we mostly just chilled at her house; and we had some of her birthday cake. (she turned 20 on Sunday) The cake was awesome, Sally (her mother) got this awesome idea a long time ago that Sarah would have a King Kong cake someday, since Sarah loves monkeys. So the cake was of the Empire State Building and had a plastic gorrilla figure planted on the top. It was so cool.

Sarahs brothers Mark and David were very hospitable and introduced me to the Nintendo games; giving excellent pointers on how to play Mario. I got a little bit into it I guess, because I stayed up a little while after Sarah playing Mario that night. It can be addictive! Thank you Mark and David for your video game pointers!

The Death of My Aunt Ellwyn

(Sigh). Aunt Ellwyn passed away recently. I expected it would be soon because she was getting up there in years, but it feels kind of weird now that it's finally happened. I'm going to miss her.

I live in the house she grew up in. When I was little we would come visit her. As an old woman having trouble getting around, she had a chairlift on the staircase leading into the basement. A favorite pastime of mine is when Doug, Rachel, and I would take turns riding up and down on that "Elevator Chair". Sometimes we'd turn out all the lights in the basement and right down into complete blackness, pretending we were on some Seaquest mission.

In all the time that I knew my Aunt, she lived with the confusion and forgetfulness of an old lady. I used to watch THE PRICE IS RIgHT reruns with her, and sometimes accompanied her to watch those Infomercials that she took oh so seriously. She was past the point where we could trust her cooking, and oh! Dont even think of getting into a car with her when shes the one driving! I dont think a time went by that I saw her and she didnt mistakenly call me by someone elses name. Whether it was one of her friends from back in high school, or my Aunt Beth, or one of my sisters names. She got them all mixed up so many times. I used to dread going into her home as well. With her eyesite poor and her hips bothering her, she was not able to take care of housecleaning like she used to. Nothing against Aunt Ellwyn, but I was always scared of her house.

So I look back and wonder, what is the value of a life? Is it all the memories that I have of her, that make up her value? Of course not.

Now the funeral is over, and my family goes through boxes and boxes of her things. She didnt have much of monetary value, but little did we realize; she had kept hundreds of old family photographs, momentos, and letters tucked away.

So, since Wednesday of last week, I have been exploring the small things my Aunt left behind. And discovering perhaps for the first time what my Aunt was really like. My only memories of her may be of when she was old and confused, but I am so glad that she saved the pictures... helping me learn about her childhood and her past. Helping me piece together my family tree.

And now I face the stunning reality. My Aunt is in Heaven, and her mind is in more clarity than ever before. She is in peace, and she is with Christ.
